Career: Indian Army no match with the Indian Police

Far Higher Basic Pay Scales of Indian Police Officers.

Much Lower Basic Pay Scales of Indian Army Officers.

Basic Pay Scale affects pension & status/protocol also.

Training period of Police Officer counted for service, pay, promotion, increment & pension but not counted for an Army Officer.

Why these disparities?

Why this discrimination with Army Officers?

What is the solution?

Delink basic pay scale with rank and link it with years of service on Non- functional  basis.

(Can someonemake similar tables for the JCOs/NCOs/ORs?)

    2. Our error has been to equate raja with appointments. Pls note there r no Ranks in police. Those r appointments, like we have OC troops or head of training team, which may b held by just about any rank. DGP is not a rank. Equations r just impossible. Our effort shd hv bn to equate whatever parity, based on years of service. In equating brass on shoulder we allowed r degradation. Police first imitate rank badges and then unilaterally upgrade themselves. SO a kaptan saab of earlier years - SHO then is now IGP- Capt to Brigadier!!!

  2. For JCO and OR they are in worst state and one must understand the early exit by compulsion affects them the most..they are out in 40s and thats the time they need more money and resources for their children ..second career too is not assured and attractive for them ...answer is they be given ACP working bckwards so to say all Jawans be made or given financial benefits of NK in 2 yeras ..Hav in 6 years and JCO 1n 12 yrs and a Sub Maj in 15 yrs..with atleast 50 % be supported to join officer cadre ..the only way out ..one keep Appointment Pay for the Ranks for incrntives

For God sake let Army do its job and you do yours!! The only problem is that you as a citizen are not clear ad to what your job is and the responsibility as a citizen!!! No wonder you want the army to you that too!! Use your own brain and balls, they are more then enough if used correctly!!

    11. Mr Vishwash Kale,

Hope you got your reply till now, actually you deserve little more so that next time while you want to say something specially about Army, think twice....

I do partially agree with you regarding your "brain" comments. Do you want to say, "a clever personality?" Better to say a crafty, Knave, Serpent, Cunning, Tricky, Sly, Roguish, Feline, Wily, Shark, Crook and so on .....Yes, a clever boy will not join Army to sacrifice his life (in your words-"to die") rather he will try something else like you and scratch his Ba..s in leisure/AC (I don't want to name any profession here, all are good).

Sorry, I can't use some good words for you but you deserve more....

    12. Well said kale..they are just looting the country in name of sacrifice

  5. Services will continue to suffer til Chief do not take a clear stand that proper modern HR policies are followed for compensation. Same pay for the same length of service and compensation for early retirement. Today Civil Service do not recognize Service same as Group A Service. What is the equation, it should be clearly defined. Why not higher compensation for Service officer if they are different and higher ?

  6. With almost so much in print, media and defense rejoinders .. almost all the structures of Govt has still conspired to detrimental affect of fauj.
With case even registered in SC, the government is belligerent mood.

  7. Over OROP suicide of Subedar Ram Kishan Grewal many questions remained unanswered.
So far as difference in pay scales is concerned it is due to job responsibilities and length of service to serve.

Proper inquiry be conducted to know the motive of suicide , if it is true that the family demanded handsome compensation and government job for his son before his last rites

Suicide note needs to be got verified and it be ensured whether he consumed the poisonous thing himself or he was given the poison by someone else.

Having handsome pension he could wait for getting dues if any instead of taking such a step which has become a political issue of opposition parties also.

I agree with Gen VK Singh's plea also which is also a part of inquiry even under normal circumstances.

  8. The day is not far off when the junior ranks deny duties and mutiny is sighted. This is going to make it extremely difficult for CO of any unit. This difficulty will lead to white washing everything.. The decline started with the policies of Indira Gandhi and our Chiefs incorrigible behavior.. God help the Nation...

  9. Hav you ever seen a Police officer doing re-employment. The simple & unthoughtful answer would be an emphatic NO. The rest is for our introspection & analysis.

  10. While you and I can keep talking about pay disparity between various Services.... it is important not to forget that only the crying baby gets mother's attention.... and Indian Army are not cry babies.... they are men with their head held high.... distinct and a cut above the rest....

Now its our moral responsibility to Ensure that they get their dues....

The least we can do is give them a respect they deserve

  11. Delinking has removed weightage admissible. It was in vogue till 6pc. 7 years weightage for Lt Col rank means 7 increments approx 2% which has now been denied as actual service being taken. Babus has played mischief and Govt has gained at expense of reduction in pension across the board for All ranks incl ORs. Hence delinking and counting on actual service is not cortreat.
Call me at my number and will tell the difference as how babus cheated in garb of OROP. Weightage aspect was used to reduce pension but taken away in 7cpc and actual service being counted thereby reducing everybody's pension wef 7cpc

    1. Armed Forces Pay & Precedence have been degraded by Successive Government in spite of working 24*7 in all weather conditions and keeping the country honour first. It's time for the present Government to keep Armed Forces above all services else days are not far that Armed forces will be least liked professional by the future generations and it's implications to India sovereignty will be costlier.

  12. In my opinion and Army Chief's statement doing the rounds on social media Armed Forces officers does neither come under Group A services nor Group B services.
We should remain an exclusive entity altogether with no comparison. It is the comparison that the Civil Services (including IPS) have been making and equating themselves with the Armed Forces that is the bone of all contentions.
Thus we must strive to get our rightful status in accordance with the Warrant of Precedence.

  13. Comments received from my senior veteran colleague (Brig Ranbir Sethi) are very pertinent. Shared for your information 👇

When I joined the Armed Forces, an officer, irrespective of his rank, was called a Class 1, Gazetted officer. I do not know when this change to Class A and Class B services came about, and what it really means. If we are neither Class A service, nor Class B service, what are we, a question that begs answer. Further, when it comes to including the Armed Forces in the Pay Commission, we suddenly become Class A or Class B service so as to give us every disadvantage that the bureacrats and politicians can think of. When we demand a separate Pay Commission for the Armed Forces, it is again not accepted by the bureacrats and politicians. So, it leaves a major doubt in our mind as to where we stand in the pecking order? What are the guiding principles? Since we have to work with civilian employees and bureacrats right through our career, it is mandatory for us to have an order of precedence. Time for our hierarchy to correct the 44 year old anomaly, since 1973 till date. Since the Armed Forces have been given a rough handle, the status needs to be re-established in accordance with the previous protocol.

  15. only partial truth. While calculating it, you conveniently forgot that with every year the increments will take place. so the salary component is now dependent on years of service and not on the rank. Yes, perks depends on ranks. But here we r talking of saary. So a col of 20 years and an IG of 20 years will have same salary.
Now add MSP to every rank and every month and every year. The salary of af officers will be way ahead of police officers. Please stop misleading by partial truths.
